England Women National Academy to play Canada A

Cobham RFC are delighted to announce that the club has been chosen to host England Women’s National Academy team versus Canada Women A on Wednesday 21 November (KO 7.30pm). This international match is free of charge to attend and the club looks forward to welcoming local and international supporters.

The excellent facilities at Fairmile Lane are already internationally recognised, as the club hosted both the Italian and Namibian national squads in the run-up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Steve Heard, Chairman of Cobham RFC said: “For our venue to be selected to host a fixture of this stature at international level is testament to the quality of the facilities the Cobham RFC membership enjoy throughout the season, coupled with the excellent growing female participation at the club.”

As part of the women’s development pathway, the National Academy side to face Canada A will include current senior players alongside up and coming talent. The team will be coached and managed by a combination of senior England Women and England Women U20 coaches.

Vicky Alexander, Head Coach for Cobham's Womens Rugby said: “To be recognised for the hard work that is being put into the female game at our club and to showcase the next generation of England Women players is an inspiration to behold. We look forward to hosting this match and the players from both teams.”

Before playing Canada A at Cobham RFC, the National Academy side will face USA Women’s Selects team at Newbury RFC on Tuesday 13 November.
