Welcome to Cobham RFC Mini Section

To all our new members, a warm welcome to Cobham Rugby Club Mini Section. To our many returning members, an equally warm welcome back. Our season starts Sunday, 2 September.

At Cobham our objective is to build confidence in our boys and girls, while developing agility, coordination and fitness through training sessions that are above all fun. Rugby’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship are what make the game special and are at the core of our Mini Section. It is no coincidence that three-quarters of last season’s First XV started years earlier in the ‘Minis’.

Cobham has a strong family and community ethos. We have a large and well organised mini section which is mainly due to the dedication of our volunteers. There are many rewarding ways to participate, from coaching to catering to coordinating. You don’t have to be an expert, just enthusiastic. If you’d like to get more involved than the occasional carpark duty, please contact either myself or your age group head coach or manager.

We are fortunate to have such superb grounds and facilities and we aim to make the most of them by hosting a number of mini rugby festivals and triangular tournaments, including our popular floodlit festivals.

The Mini Section contributes enthusiastically to the club’s social life. Our Halloween Spooktacular is a highlight of the local calendar. Please consult the club website for the jam-packed social calendar (link). For those mums and dads who fancy a run-out, touch rugby is held weekly (Wednesday evenings 1930-2115 behind the Fairmile pub) and also on the first Friday of the month (from 1930 in front of the clubhouse) both are followed by a chat and drink in the bar.

We are always on the look-out for new recruits. If you know anyone who is wondering what to do with their Sunday mornings and who might be interested in joining, please bring them along. Prospective players are welcome to come and try out a couple of sessions before they commit. There also is a ‘finder’s fee’ for any player whose friends sign up, so bring a friend. For more details, please contact Nicky Eggar (cobhaminfo@cobhamrugby.co.uk)or myself.

The Downstairs Bar and the BBQ hut will be open every Sunday morning to keep you refreshed during and after those stints on the touchline.

Please park in Munro House next to the club and remember we don’t allow dogs into the club grounds.
