On the first day of the season Cobham won their home fixture against Cornish however in this equivalent away fixture last year they went down 57-10. History was going to repeat itself as Cornish dominated this match and ran in ten tries to Cobhams four
Cornish started strongly racing into 15-0 lead before Cobham scrum half Tiernan White collected from a Jake McQuade kick ahead to score in the corner 15-5 but having lost centre James MacDonald to a yellow card Cornish extended the lead with a further try 20-5
Theo Buffini brought Cobham back into the game breaking the home side's defence to score under the posts Luke Flower converting 20-12 however that was the closest Cobham were to achieve all afternoon as the home side ran in the next six tries using their pack size to secure three pushover tries for number 8 Matt Chambers to take the score to 62-12. It wasnt how Cobham wanted to finish their season and Dan Cuthbert would not have wanted to make his 1stxv debut off the bench with that score line but in the final twenty minutes they restored some respectability with Max McDonald outpacing the defence to score and Flower converting 62-19 and then from a fine Tiernan White break he offloaded to second row Louis Porter to reduce the deficit 62-24
Cornish took their try count to double figures with a further pushover try 67-24 but due credit to Cobham who did not lie down and in the final few minutes Will Sanders was held just stopped just short of the line and Jake McQuade held up.
Its been a tough season for an extremely young Cobham squad who finish 10th in London South but they will have learnt so much from the experience
